What Is My IP Address?

Your public IP address, where it is registered, and how data providers classify the network it belongs to. Everything below is produced from a single lookup.

Preparing checks…

How this works

The server observes the source address of your request and passes it to independent IP data providers. Their answers are merged field by field, and each field records which provider supplied it. Where no provider has an answer, the field is reported as Unknown rather than as "no".

Input

  • No input required

Output

  • Public IP address
  • Address family (IPv4 or IPv6)
  • Country, region and city
  • ASN, network operator and ISP
  • Hosting, datacenter, VPN, proxy, Tor and abuse classifications

Privacy

Your IP address is inherently visible to any server you contact, including this one. It is used only to produce this result: it is not written to a log, not stored in a database, and never placed in the page URL.

Limitations

  • City-level geolocation is frequently wrong; country-level is usually right.
  • VPN, proxy, Tor and hosting flags come from third-party providers and can be out of date.
  • A hosting flag is normal on corporate and cloud networks and is not by itself a problem.
  • The address shown is the one this server sees, which may differ from your device's address behind NAT.

Frequently asked questions

What is a public IP address?

It is the address the internet uses to reach your connection. It is usually assigned by your internet provider and shared, via network address translation, among the devices on your network.

What is the difference between IPv4 and IPv6?

IPv4 addresses are 32-bit and look like 203.0.113.10. IPv6 addresses are 128-bit and look like 2001:db8::1. Both can be in use at the same time on one connection.

Can this tool tell me if I am using a VPN?

It can report whether data providers classify your address as a VPN. That is a third-party opinion, not a certainty, and it can be wrong in both directions.

Does this site store my IP address?

No. The address is used to produce the result shown on the page and is not persisted.
